Definition

Major soil group: 04 pelosols Non-alluvial clayey soils that crack deeply in dry seasons, but are slowly permeable when wet. They have a coarse blocky or prismatic structure and no prominently mottled non-calcareous subsurface horizons within 40 cm depth.
Soil Group: 2 non-calcareous pelosols Non-calcareous to at least 80 cm depth and no clay-enriched subsurface.
Soil Subgroup: 1 typical non-calcareous pelosols (Not subdivided below group level)
Soil Series: clayey material over lithoskeletal mudstone, shale or slate
