It was created from the far more detailed National Soil Map (NATMAP Vector) held by the National Soil Resources Institute (NSRI) at Cranfield University, with the purpose of communicating a general understanding of the variations which occur between soil types, and how soils affect the environment and landscape of the two countries. Soil exerts a strong influence on our whole ecosystem, being the foundation for many of the ecosystem services and functions, and is a fragile resource that needs to be understood and protected.\n\nFor more detail on the soilscape units check out Cranfield\u2019s online Soilscapes Viewer (http://www.landis.org.uk/services/soilscapes.cfm).\n\nFor more information on the classification of soils in England and Wales refer to the online Cranfield Soils Guide (http://www.landis.org.uk/services/soilsguide/index.cfm).", "summary": "Soilscapes is a 1:250,000 scale, simplified soils dataset covering England and Wales.", "title": "UKSO Cranfield Data", "tags": [ "Cranfield University", " NSRI", " SSLRC", " SSEW", " Soil Survey", " GIS", " Soilscapes" ], "type": "Map Service", "typeKeywords": [ "Data", "Service", "Map Service", "ArcGIS Server" ], "thumbnail": "thumbnail/thumbnail.png", "url": "", "extent": [ [ -6.41768243646304, 49.8646983585073 ], [ 1.76312954902468, 55.8109766893827 ] ], "spatialReference": "WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere", "accessInformation": "Copyright © Cranfield University, 2018", "licenseInfo": "The information contained in LandIS is copyright and its use is subject to a specific licensing agreement between Cranfield University and the user.
